Description: This animation, third in a set of four, depicts the neural anatomy of the brain and the mechanism of axon stretching. Axon stretching occurs when the heavier neurons move faster than the lighter axons during a hyperextension hyperflexion injury. This causes damage to the axon and results in impaired neural signal transmission.

Keywords: axon stretching, grey matter, white matter, neuron, hyperextension, hyperflexion, brain anatomy
