Cervical Leads and Dorsal Column Stimulator Surgery

SKU: C11022

This exhibit depicts the connection of a dorsal column stimulator and cervical leads. The procedure begins with an incision made over the C7-T1 spinous processes. A C7 laminectomy is carried out, and the ligamentum flavum is excised at C7-T1. A Medtronic dorsal column stimulator electrode is then placed into the C7 epidural space, and advanced to the C1-2 vertebral level. A subcutaneous buttock pocket is created, and extension wires are run under the skin from the neck incision, to the buttock incision. Finally, the electrode wires are connected to a pulse generator, which is then enclosed within the subcutaneous pocket.
