Child Left Craniotomy and Evacuation of Subgaleal Hematoma

SKU: S03013

This exhibit depicts a left craniotomy procedure on a child. A large curvilinear incision is created in the lateral scalp and reflected to expose depressed skull fractures. A subgaleal hematoma is evacuated with suction and the fracture fragments are removed. Dural hemostasis is accomplished with bipolar cautery, and dural lacerations are repaired with Duragen. Leibinger and dog bone titanium plates are then used to secure the fracture fragments back in place. Lastly, a Jackson-Pratt drain and an intracranial pressure monitor were inserted through separate stab incisions.
