Left Traumatic Telecanthis and Future Canthopexy

SKU: S06083

This exhibit depicts three conditions of the anterior eye: normal anatomy, traumatic telecanthis, and future canthopexy. Normally, the medial canthal tendon attaches the corner of the tarsal plates to the orbital wall. Extensive fracturing of the medial orbital wall causes traumatic telecanthis, severing the medial canthal tendon from its insertion. This leads to laxity and malposition of the eyelids. Future repair of the medial canthal tendon is achieved through canthopexy, securing the tendon to the orbit with a plate, screws, and transnasal wiring.
