A posterolateral scalp laceration with three post-surgical conditions, including a scalp tissue expander, are depicted in this exhibit. The scalp laceration is debrided, and a split thickness skin graft is applied. A tissue expander is surgically inserted to maximize the patient’s scalp for reconstruction. After several months, the expander is removed, and the skin graft is excised. The expanded tissue is advanced into the defect to the complete reconstruction.
