Traumatic Telecanthis and Future Canthopexy

SKU: C06020

This exhibit depicts three conditions of the anterior eye: normal anatomy, traumatic telecanthus, and proposed canthopexy. Normally, the medial canthal tendon attaches the corner of the tarsal plates to the orbital wall. Extensive fracturing of the medial orbital wall causes traumatic telecanthus, severing the medial canthal tendon from its insertion. This leads to laxity and malposition of the eyelids. Proposed repair of the medial canthal tendon is achieved through canthopexy, securing the tendon to the orbit with a plate, screws, and transnasal wiring.
