Bilateral Craniotomies and Evacuation of Subdural Hematomas

SKU: C03003

This two-page surgical storyboard depicts a ten-step bilateral craniotomy with subdural hematoma evacuation. First, an incision is made to expose the superior skull. Burr holes are drilled in the skull, and craniotomy flaps are made by connecting the burr holes with thin drilled lines. The craniotomy flaps are removed. The tense bilateral dura is visualized, then opened to evacuate bilateral hematomas and blood clots. Extensive bilateral subdural membranes are removed, and the dural openings are sutured shut. Plates and screws are used to secure the cranial flaps back in place. The periosteum of the skull has been closed, and the scalp skin has been sutured shut.
