Compression and Release of the Right Axillary Nerve – No Text

SKU: S13014

This exhibit depicts compression of the axillary nerve between the humeral head and the triceps tendon with scar tissue entrapment. Disruption of axillary nerve function results in limited arm abduction capabilities (maximum of 90 degrees). The hand is also stuck in supination, without the ability to pronate or extend the fingers. Decompression is accomplished by removing scar tissue and partially releasing the triceps tendon. The teres major muscle is then transposed proximally on the humerus to stabilize the arm.
