This exhibit depicts a C6-7 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with bone graft. The procedure begins with the placement of Gardner Wells tongs to provide longitudinal cervical traction. An incision is made over the anterior neck, the anterior spine is exposed, and the C6-7 disc herniation is removed. Bilateral foraminotomies are then performed to decompress the cervical nerve roots. The vertebral endplates are decorticated with a rasp and a PEEK interbody cage is packed with bone graft. Lastly, the cage is impacted into the disc space, and the fusion is stabilized with an anterior cervical plate.
