This exhibit depicts a C6-7 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with an integrated PEEK implant. The procedure begins with the placement of Gardner Wells tongs to provide longitudinal cervical traction. An incision is made over the anterior neck, the anterior spine is exposed, and the C6-7 disc herniation is removed. Bilateral foraminotomies are then performed to decompress the cervical nerve roots. The vertebral endplates are decorticated with a rasp, and the cage portion of the implant is packed with bone graft. The device is impacted into the disc space, positioning the plate portion of the implant against the anterior vertebral bodies. Lastly, screws are inserted through the implant, stabilizing the fusion.
