This exhibit depicts the neural anatomy of the upper body and multilevel cervical radiculopathy. Cervical nerve roots exit the spinal canal to provide motor and sensory nerve function to the upper body. Compression of these nerve roots can lead to radiating pain, numbness, or weakness throughout the corresponding dermatome. This is referred to as cervical radiculopathy. Nerve compression can be caused by protruding intervertebral disc materials, osteoarthritis, and other degenerative conditions of the spine.
