Female Right Craniotomy with Evacuation of Subdural and Epidural Hematomas – No Text

This exhibit depicts a right craniotomy with evacuation of hematomas. A left frontotemporoparietal skin flap is created and reflected to expose the skull. Fracture fragments are removed, dural bleeds are cauterized, and an epidural hematoma is evacuated with suction. The dura is then opened, revealing a subdural hematoma with bleeding brain injuries. The subdural hematoma is evacuated with suction, and the brain injuries are repaired with cautery. Gelfoam soaked in thrombin is applied to the areas of brain injury, and the dura is closed over top.
