Interior Dura and Venous Sinuses

This exhibit depicts a superior view of the interior skull and dural venous sinuses. The venous sinuses are ducts formed by layers of dural tissues within the skull. They collect venous blood from the cerebral veins, as well as cerebrospinal fluid from the subarachnoid spaces, and drain into the internal jugular veins. Pictured venous structures include: the straight sinus, transverse sinus, superior sagittal sinus, and cavernosus sinus.
