Keratoconus of the Right Eye – No Text

SKU: S06026

This exhibit depicts the anatomy of an eye with advanced keratoconus. In a normal eye, the cornea is smooth, round, and slightly thicker at the periphery. Keratoconus is an idiopathic degenerative condition in which the cornea develops a conical shape and thins, with the thinnest portion being at the apex of the cone. This structural irregularity leads to refractive visual errors such as: blurred vision, nearsightedness, multiple "ghost" images, streaking distortion around lights, and visual coma (objects appearing to have a tail similar to a comet).
