Left Frontoparietal Craniotomy and Evacuation of Subdural Hematoma – No Text

This exhibit depicts a left frontoparietal craniotomy with evacuation of a subdural hematoma. A frontoparietal incision is made over the superior scalp. A craniotomy flap is drilled and removed, exposing the dura. Nurolon tack up sutures are placed for hemostasis, and the dura is opened in a cruciate manner. The subdural hematoma is then evacuated with suction, the dura is closed, and a subdural drain is inserted through a separate stab incision. Gelfoam is placed in the epidural space and the craniotomy flap is secured over top with clamps.
