Normal vs. Various Brain Injuries
This exhibit features four axial sections of the brain highlighting various traumatic injuries. Conditions on 9/4/02 include a large subdural hematoma, right to left midline shift, and compression of the lateral ventricles. Pre-op conditions on 9/7/02 demonstrate a recurrent subdural hematoma, air within the skull, an epidural hematoma, fluid within the left frontal skull, right to left midline shift, and compression of ventricles. A previous surgical site is also depicted from the primary hematoma evacuation procedure. Post-op conditions on 9/11/02 show small remnants of subdural and epidural blood, diffuse brain edema, and ventricular compression. Air and fluid are also seen within the left frontal skull.
