This exhibit depicts the post-traumatic results of an axon shearing injury. During the process of axon shearing, the synaptic junctions on the dendrites are broken, and the axon is torn from the cell body. Transmissions can no longer be passed through the dysfunctional cell, so it becomes necrotic and dies. This results in a permanent disruption of neurological communication.
