Retrobulbar Injection Injury
SKU: C06016
This exhibit shows the mechanism of a retrobulbar injection injury. A retrobulbar injection (also known as a retrobulbar block) is used to administer anesthesia before intraocular surgery. Improper positioning of the needle results in penetration of the optic nerve. This leads to post-operative swelling and a pale, irritated optic disc.
