Right Arthroscopic Four Anchor Double Row Repair of Irregular Supraspinatus Tear

SKU: S15f01093

This exhibit depicts an arthroscopic double row repair of an irregular supraspinatus tear with four suture anchors. The supraspinatus muscle forms the superior aspect of the rotator cuff. It assists the deltoid in abduction of the arm at the shoulder and stabilizes the glenohumeral joint by resisting downward gravitational force. Of the four rotator cuff muscles, it is most frequently subjected to tearing, particularly at its insertion site on the greater tuberosity of the humerus. Tearing of the supraspinatus tendon can result in shoulder pain, weakness, and impaired abduction. Arthroscopy is performed and the supraspinatus is debrided to a stable edge. The supraspinatus footprint is decorticated, stay sutures are placed in the supraspinatus tendon, and two double loaded suture anchors are inserted medially into the greater tuberosity. Sutures from the medial anchors are then passed through the tendon and two suture tails from each anchor are tied down. The remaining four suture tails are secured laterally with two additional suture anchors.
