This exhibit depicts the coronal anatomy of the sinuses with infection and repairs. Normal coronal anatomy includes structures such as the frontal sinuses, maxillary sinuses, ethmoid sinuses, nasal concha, nasal septum, and nasal mucosa. Pre-operatively, a mucous retention cyst can be seen in the right maxillary sinus. The turbinates are swollen and infected. The ethmoid sinuses are infected and contain polyps. Surgical repairs were performed by removing the ethmoid sinuses and draining the maxillary mucous retention cyst. The middle turbinates were in-fractured and the inferior turbinates were out-fractured to open the nasal cavities.
