This exhibit depicts a coronal brain with petechial hemorrhages versus a coronal brain with a coalescence of petechial hemorrhages. Petechial hemorrhages are small, sporadic hemorrhages within the brain tissues. A coalescence of petechial hemorrhages is a cluster of these small hemorrhages within a focalized area of the brain. Enlarged schematic cubes of brain tissue highlight the dural membrane layers, cerebral arteries, and small petechial hemorrhages within the white matter.
