Right Skull Fracture with Epidural Hematoma

This exhibit depicts the effects of a right temporal bone fracture crossing the middle meningeal artery. Blood from the damaged artery accumulates and forms a large epidural hematoma, increasing intracranial pressure. As pressure builds within the skull, the brain compresses and shifts to the left. The right temporal lobe herniates beneath the tentorium cerebelli and displaces the right cerebellar hemisphere, causing the right cerebellar tonsil to herniate through the foramen magnum.
