Scalp Flap Injury and Reconstruction Utilizing Tissue Expander
This custom exhibit depicts a posterolateral scalp laceration with three subsequent post-surgical conditions to reconstruct the scalp. The initial scalp laceration is debrided and a split thickness skin graft is applied. A tissue expander is later surgically inserted to maximize the patient’s own scalp tissue for reconstruction. After several months, the expander is then removed and the skin graft excised. The expanded scalp tissue is advanced into the defect to complete scalp reconstruction.
