This exhibit depicts the surgical repair of perilymphatic fistulas (tears) of the oval and round windows in the cochlea. A speculum is inserted into the ear canal to retract stenosis, and fat graft is harvested from the ear lobe. The tympanic membrane is retracted and the perilymph leakage is removed with suction. A shaver is then used to debride the tears. Lastly, the fistula defects are repaired with fat grafts and gelfoam.
