T4-8 Posterolateral Arthrodesis with Segmental Fixation

A posterolateral arthrodesis of the thoracic spine from T4-8 is performed. First, an incision is made over the posterior thoracic spine. Pedicle screws are placed bilaterally at T4-8. Next, the lamina and facets of the posterior thoracic vertebrae are decorticated in preparation for allograft to be placed along the posterolateral gutters. Finally, rods are placed and secured with set screws.
