This exhibit demonstrates the chiropractic mechanism of injury resulting in a stroke. The lumen of the right vertebral artery is torn as the chiropractor twists the patient’s neck, and a thrombus forms. As the thrombus grows, fragments break off and travel to the cerebellum via the right vertebral artery. A stroke occurs when a thrombus fragment becomes lodged in the posterior inferior cerebellar artery.
