Surgical Removal of Spinal Cord Stimulator

Surgery is performed to remove a spinal cord stimulator. An incision is made over where the pulse generator is located in the right buttock. The pulse generator is detached from the lead wires and removed. Next, an incision is made over the prior posterior T10 laminectomy site to expose the instrumentation implanted within the thoracic spine. Scar tissue surrounding the neurostimulator paddle is removed, and the neurostimulator lead wires are removed through the thoracic incision.
