T12-L1 Fixation and Stabilization

Surgical steps of a T12-L2 fixation and stabilization are shown alongside the post-op condition of the thoracolumbar spine. First, bilateral incisions are made over T12 and L2. Dilators with k-wires tap the trajectory of where the screws will be inserted. Next, screws are placed over the k-wires and into the pedicles of T23 and L2. Lordotic rods are passed from T12 to L2 and secured with set screws, resulting in an internal posterior spinal fusion and stabilization from T12 to L2.
