This exhibit depicts a right craniotomy with internal carotid aneurysm clipping and ventriculostomy placement. The procedure begins with a bicoronal scalp incision to expose the superior skull. A craniotomy flap is then drilled and the flap is removed from the skull. A ventricular shunt is placed into the right lateral ventricle to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid and decrease intracranial pressure. The dura is opened and a subdural hematoma is evacuated under suction. The right internal carotid artery is then dissected, and two aneurysm clips are placed at the aneurysm neck. Lastly, the dural flap is closed with sutures and the craniotomy flap is secured with plates.
